Chainmail Armour

Our chainmail extends a number of benefits to those who wear it. In addition to providing a high degree of protection, it’s just great for SCA or LARP events; for going out to Renaissance Fairs or costume parties or just wearing it to the club or an evening destination to create your own style statement. It looks amazing on just anyone.

All our chainmaille items are made from 9mm 16gauge rings and are available in three different finish, namely
• Oil finish (natural)
• Zinc plated (ZP)
• Black finish

All the items are offered in following five varieties:
• BUTTED

• FLAT RING WEDGE RIVETED

Chainmail Hauberk

Chainmail Hauberk is a knee length shirt with full sleeves. These are hand made, authentic replicas of actual chainmaille armor worn by knights. Our high quality chain mail Hauberk is made of thousands of Mild Steel rings of 9mm inner diameter in the medieval 4 in 1 pattern. This pattern has a slit at the hem and the sleeve’s circumference tapers down from the shoulder to the wrist.

Hauberks are available in three sizes, namely,
• Medium (chest size - 48 inches)
• Large (chest size - 54 inches)
• Extra Large (chest size - 60 inches)
For a good fit, make sure you wear all clothing / padding before taking measurements. Anybody opting for a medium size shirt, should have maximum chest size 42 inches with the gambeson on. Our medium size gambeson would fit under our standard medium size Hauberk.

Chainmail Haubergeon

Chainmail Haubergeon is a shirt of mid thigh length with elbow length sleeves. Each of these incredible chainmaille shirts is painstakingly and skillfully created by hand, to form a continuous blanket of metal ring protection. Our craftsmen use the most authentic medieval 4 in 1 pattern of maille.

Haubergeons are available in three sizes, namely,
• Medium (chest size - 48 inches)
• Large (chest size - 54 inches)
• Extra Large (chest size - 60 inches)
For a good fit, make sure you wear all clothing / padding before taking measurements. Anybody opting for a medium size shirt, should have maximum chest size 42 inches with the gambeson on. Our medium size gambeson would fit under our standard medium size Haubergeon.

The measurements are taken when the item is stretched in the measured direction.

Medieval Chainmail Coif

Medieval Chainmail Coif is made of hundreds of rings in the medieval 4 in 1 pattern.

The chainmaille coif has an open front section to give you great visibility and drapes over the entire neck onto the shoulders. The chainmaille coif includes the aventail (neck cover) and thus covers the sides, back and front of the wearers’ head.

Our standard size coif has a forehead circumference of 26 inches. With an overall length of 18"-20" and bottom edge circumference of 56", it fits almost everyone. The chainmail rings have a 9mm inner diameter(just under 3/8") and are made with 16 gauge wire. For a good fit, make sure you wear all clothing / padding before taking measurements.

Lorica Hamata

The lorica hamata is a type of chainmail armor used during the Roman Empire.
Our mail shirt, with alternating rows of 6 mm or 8mm riveted and solid rings, is sleeveless and reaches to about mid-thigh. The shoulder doubling is shaped like a square-bottomed U and is lined with leather piping which is folded over the edges and stitched through. The doubling is attached to the body by a row of rings along the back bottom edge. Riveted to the center of the chest is a pair of S-shaped hook of brass, which can be hooked onto a stud on each flap.

• Medium (chest size - 48 inches)
• Large (chest size - 54 inches)
• Extra Large (chest size - 60 inches)

Leggings / Chausses

Chainmaille Leggings / Chausses are a kind of form-fitted stockings of steel rings. Our craftsmen use the most authentic medieval 4 in 1 pattern of maille.

These maillestockings are to be worn over a thick pair of socks / sweatpants. They extend from the toes to upper-thigh but cover only the upper portion of the feet and not underneath. The chain maille leggings are worn suspended by straps from a belt and have to be attached to a sole or a shoe at the bottom.

This chainmail clothing is made to completely safeguard the wearer against all kinds of leg injuries. Our maille leggings are extremely effective in this application and yet can also be used to create a fashion statement. They are extremely comfortable and allow free movement of the ankle and foot.

Aventail / Camail

Aventail or Camail is a curtain of chainmail generally fixed to the bottom edge of a helmet, that protects the neck and shoulders. The chainmaille aventail is in the medieval 4 in 1 pattern made with Mild Steel rings. We also have a larger size maille aventail that extends till the forearms and in turn increases the protection level. Our standard size chainmaille Aventail has an inner circumference of 8” and a length of 10”. The large aventail is 15” in length.

Voiders

Voiders or Chainmail Gussets are shaped pieces of mail used as protection for those vulnerable areas of the body that are left exposed by plate armour, like the armpits and the inner arms. Mail Gussets may be sewn on a doublet or secured with points (metal strings). The use of Gussets, rather than a full Hauberk, reduces the overall weight of the costume by a considerable amount and weight does matter a lot when the costume has to be worn for a prolonged period.
